PainterLab Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 6, 2026 Last updated: August 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WaveCave Software Development Studio ("WaveCave", "we", "us", or "our") handles information in the PainterLab mobile application (the "App"). It applies to the iOS and Android versions of PainterLab.
1. Information we do not require
PainterLab does not require an account, registration, login, name, email address, telephone number, contacts, physical address, or user profile. The App does not provide social networking, cloud synchronization, or online user accounts.
2. Camera and photo access
When you choose a photo, take a photo, or use the physical color comparison feature, the App may process:
- the photo you choose or capture;
- image information or metadata contained in that photo; and
- color samples, image measurements, and analysis results calculated from the photo.
Camera and photo access is used only for features that you choose to use. You can deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings. Features that require the permission will not work while access is denied.
The App uses the camera without audio recording.
3. Local app data
PainterLab stores the following information locally on your device:
- study names and study creation or update dates;
- copies of photos used in studies and color comparisons;
- paint palettes, paint recipes, and palette preferences;
- color samples and image positions;
- value, temperature, simplification, and display settings; and
- color analysis results, including comparison measurements and suggestions.
The current App processes these items on the device and stores them in the App's local application storage. The current App does not upload photos, studies, palettes, or analysis results to a WaveCave server, cloud image service, analytics platform, or advertising platform.
When you delete a study, PainterLab attempts to delete the copy of the photo and the study data stored inside the App. Deleting a study does not delete the original photo in your device's photo library. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data normally removes the App's local data. Device backups may retain App data according to the backup provider's policies.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
PainterLab Pro is offered through Apple's App Store and Google Play's in-app purchase systems. The App currently provides monthly and yearly products and uses the applicable store to display prices, start purchases, receive purchase status, and restore purchases.
WaveCave does not directly collect or store payment card numbers, payment passwords, or billing addresses through the App. Apple and Google process store accounts, payment information, orders, refunds, and purchase records under their respective policies. The App receives the product identifier and purchase status needed to unlock or restore the applicable App features. The current App does not send this information to a WaveCave server.
For more information, see Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Device and diagnostic information
The current App does not include Firebase, Sentry, Crashlytics, third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or a WaveCave telemetry service. WaveCave does not use the App to conduct advertising, cross-app tracking, behavioral profiling, or automated eligibility decisions.
Apple, Google, device manufacturers, and app stores may process installation, update, purchase, security, or diagnostic information under their own policies. Those activities are controlled by the relevant platform rather than by PainterLab's application code.
6. How we use information
We use information handled by PainterLab to:
- provide photo selection, camera, and color analysis features;
- create, display, update, and delete local studies and palettes;
- calculate and display color and image analysis results;
- process PainterLab Pro purchases, restorations, and feature access;
- maintain the security and functionality of the App; and
- comply with applicable law or respond to necessary security or legal matters.
7. Sharing and disclosure
Based on the current App implementation:
- WaveCave does not sell personal information;
- WaveCave does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
- WaveCave does not receive or store your photos, studies, palettes, or analysis results on a server;
- Apple App Store and Google Play process information needed for in-app purchases; and
- information may be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect safety, rights, or the App.
If PainterLab later adds accounts, cloud synchronization, customer support systems, analytics, advertising, or another third-party service, we will update this Policy before that change takes effect where required by law.
8. Retention and deletion
The current App has no WaveCave server retention period for user content. Local studies, photo copies, palettes, and settings remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
Apple, Google, and device backup providers determine how long they retain store purchase records, system backups, and platform diagnostics.
9. Your choices and rights
You can:
- allow, deny, or revoke camera and photo permissions in your device settings;
- delete studies and removable palette content in the App;
- clear the App's local data or uninstall the App;
- manage or cancel subscriptions through the applicable app store; and
- contact us about a privacy question or request.
Because PainterLab does not create a WaveCave account or upload user content to a WaveCave server, most local-data requests can be completed by deleting the content in the App, clearing App data, or uninstalling the App. Depending on your location, applicable law may also provide rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
10. Security
PainterLab relies on the iOS and Android application sandbox for local storage and is designed to minimize unnecessary collection and transmission. No device, operating system, application storage, or online purchase process is completely secure. Keep your device and operating system up to date and use an appropriate device passcode.
11. Children
PainterLab is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect children's names, contact details, or account information through the App. If you believe that a child has provided information to WaveCave, please contact us.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the App, third-party services, or applicable law changes. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised last-updated date.
